I was excited on day one of our trip to Mt. Cardigan. We have talked about it for weeks and I thought that it would take F-O-R-E-V-E-R to get here, BUT NOW IT'S HERE. When I got to school, I had to lug all of my overnight stuff through the school, and then out to the back of the school, to Mr. Woolners car. Then me and Kally Murdough went inside to wait for people who were inside but supposed to be outside and telling them to go outside. Then the bell rang and we all went outside to the bus and met Mr. Woolner outside. After all the people showed up and the parents left, we boarded the bus. Mr. Woolner did attendance and then WE WERE OFF to Cardigan Mountain!!
We were on the bus, I was in the second to last seat back and I was talking to Naomi, Zack, and Kody. The bus was very loud (like any typical bus). We had at least an hour bus ride. I pretty much talked the whole time on the bus. The bus finally pulled into the driveway that said, “AMC Cardigan Mountain.” The Kids on the bus went crazy! We all were tired of being on the loud, smelly bus. The bus had stopped and we all were ready to explode off the bus like a bunch of chimpanzees! But a teacher had told us not to go crazy. So we all went very slowly out of the bus. We were FINALLY off of the bus.
The herd of kids ran off the bus relieved to feel solid ground again and sat on the steps for further instructions. To get rid of extra energy that built up on the bus, we played a big group game. After playing for a while, Mr . Woolner showed us to our rooms, we brought our bags up stairs and anxiously set up our rooms.
When we were done setting up our rooms we went back downstairs to meet our leaders and see what group we were in. Each group made up their own group name - my group was the Fantastic Flying Gorillas. After assigned to our leader, “Fern,” we went on a small hike on a nature trail with our group and leader. During our hike, Fern told us about herself, her hiking experience and how she loves hiking and the AMC trails.
Our group went back to the cabin for dinner which was tacos and I loaded mine with cheese, sour cream and sauce. After dinner, we gathered in the living room where Mr. Woolner read to us.The hours pass quickly and it was time for bed. Us girls went back to our room, shut off the light and talked and talked and talked. My first day was exciting! Can’t wait for day two!
The theme of my writing is Movement because the people going FROM hopkinton to Cardigan in Alexandria NH. Then going to Alexandria to Hopkinton again.
